| John and Jo Stocker became seriously interested in viticulture during their 11 years in Switzerland. They participated in planting a small vineyard in their village, Fluh, on the border between Switzerland and the Alsace. On returning to Australia, they decided to continue their interests in the wine industry.
In 1987 after searching for the ideal site, they found a property situated on the
picturesque ironstone slopes of the Goulburn Valley in the Parish of Tallarook. Plantings commenced in 1988. During much of this time, John was Chairman of the Australian Grape and Wine Research Corporation.
There are now 6 hectares of vines, with the
principle varieties being Cabernet Sauvignon,
Shiraz, Merlot, Malbec and Gamay. The most
recent planting was Viognier, a Rhone Valley
variety ideally suited to the region.
